About Angela

Angela Madden is a highly respected quilt designer, teacher, author and judge. She is the author of Celebrate Celtic: Patterns and Ideas for Baskets, Hearts and Stars.

Angela has also written and self-published 9 needlework books and developed three design drafting tools and 6 DVDs. Her books are well known for their clear, comprehensive, simple instructions.

Since 1991, Angela Madden has won awards for her quilts at all the major UK shows. She was awarded 1st place for Innovative Appliqué in Houston, Texas in 2000 and the Kairin Pisereva silver cup for pictorial appliqué at the UK National Patchwork Championship in 2001.

Her quilts have been exhibited in European Quilt Expo in Barcelona in 2002, in Budapest and in the International Celtic Exhibit in Reno, Nevada and Redding, California 2003. She won 2nd place for pictorial quilts at UK Festival of Quilts 2003 and was one of the 25 quilters commissioned in 2005 to make a piece for the UK Quilter’s Guild to celebrate their 25th Anniversary.

Angela has appeared on six ‘Sewing with Nancy’ TV programs in the USA and taught at the International Quilt Market in Houston each year 1996-2003.

She taught by invitation at the Martha Pullen Quilt Academy in Alabama in 2003. 

In 2010 and 2012 Angela was part of the UK team invited to create and model garments for the ‘Fashion Sans Frontiers’  show at the Festival of Quilts, Birmingham and was awarded a gold medal for her garments. 

International teaching has carried her to guilds, shops and shows in Australia, New Zealand, U.S., Spain, France, Ireland, South Africa, Taiwan, Japan and Sweden as well as all over the British Isles.
